Town and Country Plastic Surgeons and Medspa provide a wide range of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments in Houston, Texas, with our highly customized Mommy Makeovers being especially popular.
Dr. R. Scott Yarish and Dr. Erica Bartlett understand that no two women (or mothers) are alike, and each patient requires individualized care. Because of this diversity, our board-certified plastic surgeons tailor their Mommy Makeover treatment plans to meet the unique needs of women ready to revitalize their bodies after one or more pregnancies.
Town and Country Plastic Surgeons offer Mommy Makeover surgery consultations for patients in Houston and Lake Jackson; however, your surgery may still be performed in our Houston surgery center.
Am I a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
During your consultation, our doctors review your medical history and examine your desired target areas to see if you’re a good candidate for Mommy Makeover surgery.
We listen carefully to your concerns and goals to devise a strategic plan that will best help improve your confidence by safely and effectively delivering the cosmetic results you desire.
You may be eligible to undergo a Mommy Makeover if you have cosmetic concerns about your breasts and body while meeting the following criteria:
- You are in good health
- You’re at or close to your ideal weight
- You do not plan to have more children
- You don’t smoke or use tobacco products
- You have the ability, time, and resources to comply will all pre and post-surgical instructions
To be considered for Mommy Makeover surgery, you should be in good psychological health with realistic expectations of your potential results and pass a pre-operative check with your general practitioner prior to surgery.
The overall health and well-being of our patients are our top priorities, so we must ensure that you are healthy enough to have elective surgery.
Can I Have a Mommy Makeover if I’ve Never Had Children?
Over time, aging and significant weight fluctuations can impact the body much like pregnancy.
Women who have never been pregnant or given birth often experience sagging breasts, stubborn pockets of fat, and loose skin around their midsection or other areas of their bodies.
If you have similar concerns, this combination surgery may be an excellent solution for you, whether or not you are a mother.

What Are My Mommy Makeover Options?
You may already know exactly which procedures you’d like to include in your Mommy Makeover, but if you don’t, that’s fine. Our doctors are happy to discuss your Lake Jackson and Houston, Texas, Mommy Makeover options and make the most appropriate recommendations.
The following is a list of the most common procedures chosen by patients planning to undergo a Mommy Makeover:
Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammaplasty)
Breast augmentation surgery is a cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. Town and Country Plastic Surgeons offer a variety of breast augmentation options to choose from, including implant fill material, size, location, and incision placement.
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Women troubled by drooping breasts but satisfied with their size often choose a breast lift to restore a perkier, more youthful appearing bustline.
A breast lift is often combined with breast augmentation or reduction when part of a Mommy Makeover. Besides lifting and tightening the breast, mastopexy raises the nipple-areola complex to a more youthful level and can reduce the size of the areola.
Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammaplasty)
Some women with very large breasts have no choice but to proceed with breast reduction surgery before having children due to chronic pain in their backs, shoulders, and necks from the excess weight of their breasts.
However, women are often advised to wait until their families are complete (or they don’t plan future pregnancies) before undergoing breast reduction, as fluctuations in breast size can impact results.
When breast reduction is postponed, a Mommy Makeover is an ideal opportunity to undergo this procedure. A breast lift is included with breast reduction surgery.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Our plastic surgeons can perform abdominoplasty on women with loose core muscles, stubborn fat, excess skin, and stretch marks due to pregnancy or extreme weight loss.
A tummy tuck is the most effective method to recontour the abdomen and waistline while eliminating excess skin for a slimmer, tighter, and more attractive midsection.
Body recontouring with liposuction is usually part of the Mommy Makeover procedure, whether performed as the only body slimming technique or in addition to a tummy tuck.
Our doctors rarely perform a tummy tuck without the assistance of liposuction to get the most pleasing, naturally sculpted results.
While some women have naturally large labia minora (the inner lips of the vulva), others develop this later in life as childbirth can stretch out the labia.
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your labia for any reason, ask Dr. Yarish or Dr. Bartlett about adding this procedure to your Mommy Makeover.
What Techniques Will Be Used for My Mommy Makeover?
Depending on the options you choose for your custom Mommy Makeover, the following techniques may be used during your surgery:
- Breast augmentation – An incision is made within the fold under the breast (inframammary) or around the areola (periareolar). Depending on your body type, lifestyle, and desired outcome, pockets are carefully created above or below the chest muscle to accommodate the breast implants, which are then inserted.
Our surgeons will manipulate your natural breast tissue as needed for the best results and meticulously close the incisions for the most discreet scarring possible.
- Breast lift – Like breast augmentation, a breast lift requires incisions so our surgeons can access your natural breast tissue. This tissue will be lifted and shaped before loose, excess breast skin is trimmed away.
The nipples and areolas are repositioned higher on the breasts, and the incisions are carefully closed to reduce the visibility of scarring.
- Breast reduction – A breast reduction incision mimics that of a breast lift. The only major difference is that before reshaping the natural breast tissue, some is removed to make the breasts smaller and perkier while improving back pain.
- Tummy tuck – After making an incision along the bikini line, our surgeons can remove a certain amount of fat, tighten abdominal muscles, remove excess skin, eliminate most or all stretch marks in the lower abdomen, and even create a more beautiful belly button.
- Liposuction – Liposuction uses a small thin tube called a cannula and the power of suction to remove localized fat and recontour almost any part of the body.
- Labiaplasty – Our surgeons may use the trim or wedge labiaplasty technique to reduce the size of the labia minora or correct asymmetry. The trim method is best when the outer edges of the labia are much darker than the rest of the tissue, and the wedge is often preferred when symmetry is the biggest concern.
Either technique can be used to make the labia smaller, and clitoral hood reduction may be included if its size or position is adversely affecting appearance or sensation.

How Is a Mommy Makeover Performed?
A Mommy Makeover is performed under general anesthesia and almost always as an outpatient procedure. Your surgeries will be performed using the techniques listed above, and more information is available on our specific breast and body procedure pages.
Depending on the number and type of procedures you receive, your Mommy Makeover may take two to five hours.
After your surgery, incisions are treated with our proprietary scar cream, silicone taping, and/or laser therapy to promote optimal healing and help scars fade faster.
It is this commitment to your surgical treatments and aftercare that makes our Mommy Makeovers some of the best in Houston and Lake Jackson, Texas.
Our Upscale Surgery Center
Your procedure will be performed in our state-of-the-art facility, where we employ a qualified, licensed anesthesiologist and other compassionate staff members.
You will receive high-quality care and ample time in our recovery area before being driven home by a friend or family member to begin your recovery.
Town and Country Plastic Surgeons also offer full-service overnight stays with continuous care for our Houston, Texas, Mommy Makeover patients who want or need an extra level of attention.
In some cases, this overnight stay may be recommended by our doctors due to an existing medical issue, the extent of your surgery, or lack of personal caretakers. It may also just be a matter of personal comfort.
Our staff will assist you with a shower and dressing change the morning after surgery.
What Is the Recovery From a Mommy Makeover Like?
The recovery period for a Mommy Makeover is similar to a tummy tuck alone. Most of our Mommy Makeover patients can drive within seven to 14 days, return to ‘desk-type’ jobs in 14 days or less, and resume full activity (including their regular exercise routine) within six weeks.
Recovery times vary from patient to patient, with some longer or shorter than others. Here are some tips to make your recovery more comfortable:
- Arrange for help during the first one or two days following your surgery.
- Prepare a comfortable recovery spot and have everything you need at arm’s length.
- Have meals already prepared so you can heat and eat protein-rich foods.
- Purchase an extra-long phone charging cord.
After your Mommy Makeover, our doctors will provide you with detailed post-op instructions on what to do and what not to do during your recovery and generally include the following recommendations:
- Rest with your legs elevated.
- Take your medication as prescribed and on the recommended schedule.
- Stand up slowly and carefully, flexing at the hip.
- Do not lift your arms over your head for the first two weeks.
- Avoid lifting anything weighing more than 10 pounds.
- Do not submerge your incisions in water until we clear you to do so.
- Maintain a healthy diet with high protein and drink plenty of water.
- Call our office or the post-op phone number provided if you experience severe pain or signs of infection.
Because every woman is different, and your Mommy Makeover is tailored to your specific needs, your recovery will be unique. There is also a chance that our doctors will change your post-op instructions based on your specific needs.
Our State-of-The-Art Facility
At Town and Country Plastic Surgeons, we also offer a full service overnight stay facility with continuous care for mommy makeover patients in Houston who want that extra level of care and attention.
This may simply be a matter of personal comfort or it may be advised by our doctors due to existing medical issues, the length of surgery, medications, or lack of personal caretakers. Whether the overnight stay option is chosen or not, our nursing staff will assist you with a shower and dressing change the morning after surgery. This may be the single, most amazing feel-good part of the entire process, next to the results themselves.
What Results Can I Expect From My Mommy Makeover?
