When To Consider It

If prominent or unattractive veins are bothering you, especially on exposed areas like the face or chest, it might be time to consider a vein treatment. Laser vein therapy, with its versatility, is particularly indicated when there are various factors involved in your skin condition, or if you have several issues you’d like to correct in your appearance. The Candela® laser is great at reducing facial and spider veins, leg veins, vascular lesions, and rosacea, but isn’t a top treatment for varicose veins. Doctors also favor it for addressing pigmented lesions that have veins involved, because it can treat both at once, healing the skin and veins underneath. The laser can also treat acne, scarring, stretch marks, and other skin irregularities.

What To Expect

During the laser treatment, intermittent light pulses are passed over the veins, shrinking them and reducing pigment and prominence. The light energy pulses through the tissue, leaving it undamaged, to reach the veins at the right depth to affect them. It damages the small abnormal veins and causes them to dissipate and fade away through natural body processes. Treatment depends on the size, number and location of the veins involved, but usually is a quick and painless process.

What Happens Afterward

Some redness and skin sensitivity after laser treatment is expected, but the problem veins should subside and fade over a period of months, as the damaged vessels disappear back into the tissue and are disposed of through natural cell repair processes in the body. There’s a low incidence of side effects of any kind with laser vein therapy.

To make sure Candela® laser treatment is what’s right for your spider or facial veins, consult with our medical staff before scheduling a procedure, and they’ll help create a personalized treatment plan to address your specific concerns.
