Chemical Peels Houston and Lake Jackson, TX

At Renew YouMD, we offer a wide variety of peels to refresh and revitalize your skin. Chemical peels target the upper layers of the skin that have been damaged by the sun and/or effects of age. Peels can be used on your face, neck, chest or hands. They can be used to target the following skin conditions:

  • Clarity
  • Texture
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation

Who is a good candidate for a peel

Patients with lighter skin are typically the best candidates for a chemical peel because of the risk of hyperpigmentation with darker skin types. However, at Renew YouMD we have peels available that can be used on all skin types.

What is the right peel for my skin

There are a variety of peels available for every skin type and skin concern. Before any peel, our experienced aestheticians will evaluate your skin to determine which peel would give you the most benefit. They will customize a peel to you and your needs. Some patients may require a single peel to achieve their desired results, however, our team may recommend a series of peels to get the best treatment effect.

Is there downtime for a peel

Chemical peels come in many different formulations which can produce different results. We understand that not everyone can tolerate the same type of peel. This is why, at Renew YouMD, we offer a wide range of different types of peels. Some peels cause minimal, if any, side effects other than a natural glow. Other, more aggressive peels, may cause you to shed the top layers of your skin so that you can reveal your new and improved skin complexion. If a deeper peel is selected, you can expect to “peel” for 5-7 days. Our team will prepare you to care for your skin after your peel. Depending on the type of peel, the aftercare may consist of resuming your normal skin care to application of moisturizing skin creams to soothe dryness.

Do peels hurt

Most peels cause mild tingling of your skin with application. Some deeper peels can cause a “spicy” feeling on your skin, which is transient. Cooling fans can help ease the process during the procedure. Our experienced aestheticians will go out of their way to ensure you are the most comfortable as possible during your peel. After a few minutes after the peel application, the tingling or “spicy” sensation should resolve and calming serums are applied to your skin. Once the peel is complete, you should not feel any further discomfort. If you have selected a peel which will cause the skin to shed, the process is painless.

Is there anything I need to do to prep the skin

At Renew YouMD, our trained aestheticians will prepare you for your upcoming peel. Some light peels require no prep at all. Other peels may require pretreatment with a topical medication and cessation of certain creams before treatment to get the best result. Rest assured that you will be in the best hands for your peel.

Results

The results from your peel depend on the type of peel you and your aesthetician have selected. Houston and Lake Jackson patients can notice improvements in their skin in a wide range from brightening to fine lines and wrinkles to skin tightening. The most dramatic results are those from a series of peels.
