Liposuction For Men
Liposuction is a popular and in-demand procedure at our Houston and Lake Jackson offices. It is a process that sculpts your body by removing unwanted pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Some of the areas that we commonly treat are the abdomen, flanks, arms, and thighs. But any area of the body that displays unwanted fat can be an effective target for liposuction. At Town and Country Plastic Surgeons, our doctors can perform liposuction surgery alone or in combination with any other cosmetic procedure.
Ideal Candidates For Liposuction
To qualify for this procedure, you must meet our health qualifications and have realistic aesthetic expectations. In other words, liposuction produces great results, but there is no cure-all for optimal body shaping. Liposuction also does not stop new fat cells from forming. Aside from that, you must be healthy with no contraindicating medical conditions before we can perform the procedure.
Health issues that may be a factor include:
- Disorders of the immune system.
- Disorders that impact blood clotting.
- Past reactions to anesthesia.
The best course is to make an appointment with our doctors so they can assess your unique health profile.
Other than being healthy, deciding factors for liposuction surgery may mean that:
- You have a localized area of fatty accumulation that is disproportionate from the rest of your body.
- You want your figure to have more definition and a smoother contour.
- You are physically fit, and your weight is stable.
- You have good skin elasticity.

The Liposuction Process at Town and Country Plastic Surgeons
You will be made comfortable during your liposuction procedure in our Houston or Lake Jackson locations. The procedure can be done under local or general anesthesia, depending on the areas, patient preference and safety.
You will be placed into a compression garment after your procedure and you will go home once you are feeling comfortable. You may drain from your liposuction sites for a few days after your procedure. It is wise to protect your couch and bed with towels or sheets in anticipation of this.
Multiple techniques exist for removing excess fat from your body through liposuction; however, generally, the fat is removed through a thin, hollow tube called a cannula.
During liposuction, we use a local anesthetic and epinephrine, a solution to constrict your blood vessels. We then insert a thin tube into a small incision and remove the fat out, gently, using a liposuction machine.
This technique allows us to remove fat from your body in a way that minimizes blood loss and post-surgical pain.
Recovery From Liposuction
Recovery time for liposuction varies, but most people return to work within a week. Our doctors will make the determination based on your liposuction procedure or procedures and your unique patient profile.
Some swelling and bruising could persist for a few weeks after this procedure. Discomfort is easily controlled with prescription medication and aftercare instructions provided. It is important to follow all aftercare instructions and take pain medications when needed.
For Houston and Lake Jackson men who qualify, liposuction typically does not carry significant post-surgical complications or includes extensive recovery time.
Dr. Yarish and Dr. Bartlett will monitor your healing through follow-up appointments to ensure the best results.
At Town and Country Plastic Surgeons, we want to maximize your results with minimal downtime, so we customize all our surgical plans to the individual. To learn more about the liposuction process or to schedule a consultation, please contact us today at our Lake Jackson or Houston locations.
