Why Choose BodyTite® With Liposuction vs. a Tummy Tuck?

June 05, 2024 | 4 minute read

BodyTite® is a minimally invasive body contouring procedure that tightens loose skin and tissues with significantly less recovery time than a tummy tuck. This blog discusses how BodyTite® with liposuction works, what results it can achieve, how it compares to a tummy tuck, and who is a good candidate.

Addressing Unwanted Stomach Fat

So much of a person’s confidence centers on a solid core. Many people deal with unwanted fat and loose skin on the stomach. Everyone’s body holds fat differently, but stubborn fat deposits tend to develop in the abdomen and can cause significant annoyance. Stubborn fat is often resistant to diet and exercise, and it can be incredibly frustrating to spend time and energy working out and still not see the results you want. At Town and Country Plastic Surgeons, we offer procedures that target unwanted fat and sculpt your abdominal contours for a smoother, flatter stomach.

Two options for addressing unwanted stomach fat are tummy tuck surgery and BodyTite® with liposuction. Both options use different techniques and serve their purpose for various candidates.

What Can BodyTite® With Liposuction Achieve?

For those seeking body contouring results without needing an excisional surgical procedure, BodyTite® can be a game-changer for the right candidate. This minimally invasive body contouring procedure tightens loose skin and tissues while having a significantly shorter recovery time than more invasive procedures like tummy tucks. The BodyTite® procedure is performed with a device that uses thermal energy to treat the abdominal area. Your surgeon will make a small incision to allow the device to heat the skin at the targeted area. This increases collagen production in the skin to create a more toned appearance.

When BodyTite® is paired with liposuction, fat can be removed for optimal body contouring. Liposuction removes stubborn pockets of fat for a flatter stomach that is in better balance to the rest of your body.

How Does a Tummy Tuck Differ?

A tummy tuck is a more invasive surgical procedure that provides significant correction to the abdominal area. Tummy tuck surgery is known for its transformative results, as it can remove excess skin, tighten stretched or separated abdominal muscles, and remove some stubborn fat deposits through liposuction.

Before your tummy tuck procedure, you’ll be given anesthesia to make you comfortable during surgery. Your surgeon will make incisions, the location of which will depend on the type of tummy tuck you are getting—full tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, or extended tummy tuck. The incisions allow your surgeon to remove excess skin and unwanted fat from your abdomen and correct diastasis recti (weak or separated abdominal muscles) if necessary.

Some want to eliminate more fat than a tummy tuck can achieve alone. In these cases, liposuction can be added to a tummy tuck to remove excess fat before the tummy tuck is performed.

Who Is a Good Candidate for BodyTite® With Liposuction?

People with mild to moderate skin laxity who want to remove stomach fat and tone their abdomen may be good candidates for BodyTite® with liposuction. Other factors that may make you eligible for this combination of procedures include:

  • Being generally healthy
  • Not overweight
  • Able to maintain a stable weight
  • Having a healthy lifestyle
  • Having good skin elasticity (minimal stretch marks)
  • Wanting to contour your abdomen

During a consultation with our surgeons, we can help you determine if BodyTite® with liposuction is right for you.
